Obituary

GREENSBORO â?? Zack Abel Browning passed away Saturday evening, June 29, 2013 at Beacon Place. He was born July 14, 1928 to the late John Browning and Annie Richmond Browning of Alamance County, North Carolina. He leaves to mourn three children, Carnell Randall (Linda) Deborah McClendon (Stephen) and Myra Curry (Sherman), his sister, Nannie Browning Wilkins, his brother Henry R Browning (Alice) and eight grandchildren, Andre, Shaunielle, Brandon, Jennifer, Jonathan, Sherman, Zacarias, and Isaiah, great-grandchild, Nicklaus and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Zack completed high school in Graham, NC. He received two degrees from NCA&T, a technical degree in auto mechanics and a BS in Electrical Engineering. In between the two degress he served in the army in the Korean War. Zack retired from Bennett College as Head of Building & Grounds with over 35 years of service. After retirement, he became an entrepreneur of Zack's Appliance Repair. He was an active member of United Institutional Baptist Church, as the longest serving Deacon in Church history and numerous leadership roles. Zack was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, and a volunteer for The Shepherd Center of Greensboro. Funeral services to be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at United Institutional Baptist Church, 802 E Market Street in Greensboro. The family hour is at 10:30 and services begin at 11:30 where the Pastor Johnny R. Freeman is presiding. A community viewing will be held July 2, 2013 at Perry Brown Funeral Home 909 East Market Street in Greensboro from 6-7pm.
