Obituary

Willie Lee Wade went home to be with Jesus on Thursday morning, June 7, 2018. He was born in Lancaster, South Carolina on April 11, 1932 to the late Viola Clinton Wade Joyce and Purnell Wade. He was brought to Greensboro in his early teens where he has lived since. Shortly after coming to Greensboro, he united with St. Mark Holy Church, where he ultimately served as a deacon, and where he worked from his heart for the Lord. He was one of the original members of St. Mark United Holy Church and served faithfully under the leadership of Bishop Willie B. Harbor. Deacon Wade was married to the late Marziner Hines Wade. As a very young man, he accepted and loved the Lord and never hesitated to share the word of God with others. He often walked the neighborhood preaching about Jesus so much so that the neighbors called him the "barefoot prophet". He loved his church family and people in general. As a Deacon in the church, he demonstrated what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ—he was a servant, helper, and teacher—loving and serving his brothers and sisters in Christ. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters: Ella Scott of Winston-Salem, NC, Shirley Spruill (Willie) of Franklin, TN; stepson: Fred Hines of Greensboro; goddaughter: Wilma Jackson and her four children of Greensboro; friend and caregiver: Vivian Slade of Greensboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends

A service honoring his life will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at St. Mark United Holy Church. The service will begin at 12 pm.
