Willie Sarah Watkins Mason was born in Caswell County and transitioned to her new home on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. She was married to the late James Allen Mason. To this union five sons were born. Sarah was very proud of her five sons. She was always more concerned about their care and well-being than she was for herself and she made every effort to see that they were loved and well taken care of. Sarah worked for a while as a hair dresser before she decided on a career as a full-time mother and homemaker. Sarah loved to bowl and play cards, but most of all she loved to fish and was very good at it. In fact, she could out fish most men. At times she would sit on the banks out in the Pleasant Garden area nearly all day fishing, but at the end of the day she was sure to bring home a "nice catch". Sarah was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Mason. She leaves to cherish her memory four sons: James E. Mason (Irene), Isaac Mason (Virginia), Zachary Mason, and Perry Mason; daughter-in-law: Rosa Mason; close friends: Helena Kennedy and her mother, Tut; seven half sisters and brothers; grandchildren: Angela Hough, Share Mason, Nocita Cornelius (Desmond), James Andre' Mason (Chimere), Lawerence Mason, Jr., Philip Watkins, April Watkins, Jonte' Joe, Katrina Watson, and Maya Mason; twelve great-grandchildren; very close neighbor and friend: Jack, Tara and two adopted god-daughters; and a host of other relatives and friends. A service honoring the life of Willie will take place at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home Chapel, 909 East Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27401 on Wednesday September 23, 2015.The visitation will begin at 10:00 am, and the service will follow at 10:30 am.The Interment will take place at Danville National Cemetery, 721 Lee Street, Danville, Virginia, 24541.
