Mr. Willie Junior "Dubby" Hampton, 87, son of the late Jim and Nettie Lemon Hampton, was born on April 30, 1933. He departed this life Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, North Carolina.
Willie was a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, NC. He was affectionately called "Dubby" by his family and friends. He met and married the love of his life, Bertha Moore, on October 30, 1954. God blessed this union with seven children.
Willie was a devoted and faithful husband and father. He was hardworking, dependable, reliable and a man of his word. He was a "man's man," a gift from heaven to all who knew him. His favorite quote was "If you have love in your home, God will provide everything else you need."
Willie was a proud farmer and worked as a maintenance/custodian technician at Bethany High School, where he retired after 20 or more years of service. He then worked for 30 years beside his wife in their cleaning service.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife of 62 years, he was preceded in death by two sons, David Hampton and Bobby Hampton; two daughters Juainita Hampton and Dorothy Hampton; three grandchildren, Eric Porter, Keya Hampton, and Juan Garcia Willie Junior Valadez; one brother, Dewey Hampton; and four sisters, Jettie Mae Bolden, Alice Clark, Dorothy Armstrong, and Ethel Gazelle "Gay" Thomas.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Christina Hughes, Inetta Porter and Darlene Valadez-Lindsay: seven grandchildren, Elgin Hughes, Quintan Hughes, Jerry Hampton, Lisa Hampton, Charles Porter, Howard Hayes, Makaylah Hampton and Shanda Hampton; one brother, James "Tuss" Hampton; one sister, Margaret Hampton-James; brother-in-law, Ralph Thomas (Gay); and a host of great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The viewing will be held Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Perry J. Brown's Memorial Chapel, 909 E. Market St., Greensboro, NC.27401.
The graveside service honoring his life will be conducted on Friday 16, 2021 with Pastor Lopez officiating at Greenview Cemetery,1004 Montgomery St., Reidsville, NC 27320.
