Willie "Bill" Rodger Chambers, Jr. was the 1st child born on July 13, 1933 to the union of Rosa Gilmer Chambers and Willie Rodger Chambers, Sr. His mother and father, and four brothers preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn him his daughter, Dr. Cheryl Chambers Steed (Carlton). Bill also has another daughter, Rose B. Coley. He was a proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was a loving and caring devoted husband to Laura Gordon Chambers. He was a like a father to Jacob Adamolkun and Reverend Brenda Finkley. He anonymously gave his money and time to support children to attend camp and gifted money to several local and national organizations. He wanted children who were economically underprivileged to be given an opportunity to experience extra-curricular activities. He was educated in the Greensboro City Schools and graduated from Dudley Senior High School in 1951. Later, he received a degree from Howard University. Bill was in The Omega Psi Psi Fraternity and he served honorably in the U. S. Army during his lifetime. He was an active member in his local American Legion Post. His jobs consisted of working with electronics and he was the owner of Bill's Television Repair. His retirement job was at the Raleigh, NC. Home Depot. Bill was not only a proud man, but he loved to tell jokes. He was a very witty and a giving person. Bill was a dedicated member of Saint Paul AME in Raleigh, NC. He served as a member of the Sunday School, The Godden Jewels Senior Ministry and on the Men's Usher Board. He was also honored as one of St. Paul's Living Legend Honorees in 2013. He loved the Lord, his church and many of its programs. He will be missed by many family members and friends who truly loved him. He loved his family and friends immensely. His transition was peaceful on Monday, August 27, 2018. A service honoring his life will be held Sunday, September 2, 2018 in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home; 909 E Market St. Greensboro, NC. The visitation will begin at 1 pm and the service will follow at 1:30 pm. The interment will take place following the service at Lakeview Memorial Park; 3600 N O'Henry Blvd. Greensboro, NC.
