Mr. William Henry James, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023.

William "Bill" James, son of the late Leroy and Jessie Mae James was born May 15, 1938 at L. Richardson Hospital in Greensboro, NC. He peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Wesley Long Hospital.

"Firebug" as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, attended Dudley High School and while attending Dudley participated on Dudley High basketball team. William would go on to graduate from Laughlin High School. William was employed at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro until his retirement in the year of 2000.

An avid sportsman who enjoyed playing golf and also an enthusiastic fan of basketball, but his devotion was to the Philadelphia Eagles. In his active years, William enjoyed sports and participating with various adult recreational basketball teams at Windsor Community Center.

In William's early years he attended Shiloh Baptist Church and later was baptized at Godly Love Missionary Baptist Church.

In 2010 William met and married the former Shelba Jean Williamson who preceded William in 2015. William cherished his family. He loved spending time with his brothers along with his children especially his devoted daughter Angela. He was overjoyed any time he was able to to spend quality time with his family.

He is also preceded in death by his loving parents, his brother Harry and Moses James.

William leaves to cherish his loving memory his brothers: Charles James (Philadelphia, PA), Everette James (Elizabeth) (Greensboro, NC), who was devoted to ensuring he never missed a doctor's appointment. His children: Roderick (Romona), Angela Daye, Eric James all of Greensboro, NC, his grandchildren: Quinton Jefferies, Erica James-Strayhorn (Anthony), Courtnie Edwards (Steven), Brittany James, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023 1:30pm New Light Missionary Baptist Church 1105 Willow Road Greensboro, NC. 1pm Visitation. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park 3600 N. O' Henry Blvd. Greensboro, NC.
