William J. Adams, affectionately known as 'Uncle Joe', was born January 6, 1933 to Walter and Mary Adams, and departed this life January 25, 2020. He was educated in the Halifax County School System. William moved to Greensboro, North Carolina in 1961. He was employed by the Industries of the Blind for thirty-eight years as a shipping and receiving clerk until his retirement. William was a big fan of sports - football, basketball, tennis, etc. He was a very loving husband and father to his family, and would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone. William leaves behind many memories to be cherished by his wife of fifty-four years, Geneva; daughters: Cynthia Vega and Shelia Hawkins; three brothers: Henry, Walter, and Paul Adams; two grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. A service honoring his life will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home; 909 E. Market St. Greensboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 11:30am with service following at 12pm. Internment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
