Obituary

On July 28, 2019, Reverend Victoria Renee Guyton was at her home when the Lord called her name. Renee (as she is most often called) was born on June 1, 1962 to the late Reverend Otha J. Mills and Annie M. Smith. Renee graduated from Dudley Senior High School in 1980. She is also a graduate of Barton College Lay Academy West and Guilford School of Theology. Renee worked in many capacities over the years. She was employed at Kmart Distribution, House of Charms as a beautician and drove buses for the Guilford County School system. Renee was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), pastored b Reverend Ronald Glover for 18 years. She was a minister of the gospel under the Disciples of Christ for 15 years. During her time at MPCC she was an Elder, taught children's Sunday school classes, sang with the Praise Team and Voices of Triumph (Vice President), member of the Jeans & Socks committee, volunteered with the kitchen committee, and was the Secretary for the Piedmont District Conference for 2 years. Renee is survived by her mother Mrs. Annie M. Smith, husband Lonnie Hughes; children Bryan Mills Sr. and Shanita Hughes Moss (Andre); grandchildren Kamiya Mills, Bryan Mills Jr. (BJ), Cayden Moss; siblings James Mills (Ella), Sherra Mills, Deloris Mills Bennett, JoCarolyn Wilkins (Thomas), Cassandra Alston (Edward), and David Mills (Bebe); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A service honoring her life will be held Saturday August 3, 2019, at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church; 1513 Britton St. Greensboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 11am with the service following at 11:30am.
