Obituary

Vennion Fields was born October 23, 1942, the third oldest of eight children born to the late Mattie Mae Fields and Eddie Fields in Davisboro, Georgia. Two of his siblings preceded him in death, Jake Fields and Eddie Fields, Jr.

Vennion graduated from Central High School in Louisville, Kentucky. After graduating he went to serve his country in the United States Army. He served three years from 1963-1965, he worked as an Army Ranger. Vennion received an honorable discharge from the United States Army on March 26, 1965.

Vennion was married to the late Mary Louise Fields and to this union a son and three daughters were born, Vernon Fields, Vanetta Watkins, Monica Baugham and Denise Johnson. He began a long prosperous career at Lorillard Tobacco Company from May 23, 1974 – May 31, 2003.

He was a hard worker and was ready to retire after working twenty-nine years as a Making Plug Shooter Operator. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed every moment he spent with them. When he wasn't with his family, he played golf and loved to travel.

On Monday, January 13, 2014, God sent his angels to bring Vennion home with his mother, father, wife, son, brothers and two grandchildren. He leaves behind to mourn and to cherish his precious memories, a special friend, Virginia Williams; eldest son: Vernon (Charlotte) Fields, Vanetta (Kevin) Watkins, Monica (Desmon) Baugham and Denise (William) Johnson. Vennion had nineteen (19) grandchildren; twenty (20) great-grandchildren; brothers: Curtis Fields (Louisville, KY), and Freddie Fields (Jacksonville, FL.); three (3) Sisters: Annette Clayton, Brenda Fields and Juanita Lewis (all of Louisville, KY) and a host of other family and friends.
