Obituary

Travis Bernard 'Nard" and "Big T' Ramseur, 70, passed away on February 6, 2019 in Greensboro, NC after complications triggered by a massive stroke. Nard was born in Greensboro, NC to the late John Lee and Lois McDaniel Ramseur on June 18, 1948. He graduated from James B. Dudley High School, Class of 1966. Travis attended NC A&T State University; he graduated Cum Laude in 1982 receiving a BS degree in the field of Transportation. On January 20, 1968, Travis married Alfreda Greene Ramseur, daughter of the late Fred and Viola Spencer Greene of Greensboro, North Carolina. Freda also attended NC A&T State University; she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1983 receiving a BS degree in the field of Occupational Safety and Health. The couple resided in McLeansville, North Carolina.

Travis was a member of Love & Faith Christian Fellowship under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Michael Thomas. Travis actively served on the Visual Arts Ministry where he dedicated his time and talents in assisting with the monthly publication of the Great Commission Magazine.

Travis was an independent transportation/ trucking/railroad professional. He was an entrepreneur and the founder of Ramseur/FedEx Transportation Company. He worked as a Barge Operator for Union Carbide for 20+ years. Travis was a retiree of the Dow Chemical Company.

To his accomplishments, Travis developed a methodology and process for the Inland Marine Transportation. He successfully incorporated multiple boat transportation owners to a Sole Source Transportation Method. He contributed to the field of transportation by coordinating an acquisition and delivery of a brand new transportation network valuable to the market. In addition, he also coordinated services, delivery, and quality improvement of lab supplies to plants in the South Charleston, West Virginia Region.

He aspired to inspire others by using his gifts of mentoring, coaching, teaching, problem solving, and negotiations to face life's challenges. Travis encouraged others to learn, love and live their best life.

Travis is preceded in death by the late John Lee and Lois McDaniel Ramseur, his parents; John Lee Jr., Joseph Marcus, Charles L. and Cecil Alexandra Ramseur, his brothers.

Travis is survived by his wife, Alfreda Greene Ramseur of the home in McLeansville, North Carlonina; Daughters: Dr. Phyllis 'Rene' Harris of Atlanta, Georgia; Lynette Gee (Jayson) of Fort Mill, South Carolina; Son: Travis B. Ramseur of Greensboro, North Carolina; Brothers: William 'Bill' Ramseur of Columbia, South Carolina; Harvey Ramseur (Jennifer) of Aiken, South Carolina; Sisters: Dr. Christine Ramseur Boone, of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Geraldine Ramseur Logan (Elvin) of Greensboro, North Carolina.

Travis was blessed with 4 Grandchildren: Brandon Keith, Bryan Austin, Taylor Alexis and Brianna Lynn; 3 God Grandchildren: Andre Jr., Ryan Anthony and Ariel Briana; one Great Granddaughter: Journey and 7 God Great Grandchildren: Doreun, Zion, Rylee, Rylyn, Aaliyah, Nia and Nyla.

Special family members include: Nephew Joseph Thomas Ramseur (Darlene) of Charolette, North Carolina; Brother-In-Law Fred Anthony Greene of Durham, North Carolina; Sisters-In-Law Margaret Brenda Craven, of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Sandra Blakney (Jerry) of McLeansville, North Carolina.

A host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, special relatives and friends.

The family of Travis Bernard Ramseur would like to express thanks to those that share our grief during this time of bereavement. All expressions of love for the passing of our loved one and all acts of kindness are greatly appreciated. We thank each and everyone of you and may God bless you ALL!

A service honoring his life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Love & Faith Christian Fellowship Church, 4344 Blackberry Rd, Greensboro, NC 27406. The visitation will begin at 11:30 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm.
