Obituary

Thomas Lester Seagroves was born on April 27, 1952 in Greensboro, NC to William Lindsay Seagroves and Lovenia Seagroves. He departed his earthly life on Friday, February 18, 2022 surrounded by family at home.

Thomas (Lester as he is known by family) was a proud graduate of the 1970 class of James B. Dudley High School and later receiving a degree from Guilford Technical Institute and a bachelor's degree from NC A&T State University. Lester also proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and United States Army National Guard for 20 Years. Upon his military retirement, he chose to continue in civil service through his employment with the United States Postal Service where he retired in 2015.

Lester was a dedicated and loyal man who loved the Lord and his family wholeheartedly. He really loved his family and cherished spending time with them. He exuded a quiet strength that provided support, protection, and comfort to his family. He was known as a soft-spoken man that offered encouragement to his family and friends. Lester was a humble man, never boastful…except when talking about his favorite cars.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, William Lindsay and Lovenia Seagroves; a brother Cornell Seagroves; a sister Willie Lois Seagroves; and a son, Terence Lester Kindred.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lucia "Bonnie" Seagroves; his daughters, Angela Mumford (Kevin) of Greensboro, NC; Kathy Murphy (Sean)of Maryland; Tamisha Seagroves of Florida; and Brittany Seagroves of High Point, NC; his three sisters, Patricia Seagroves, Bessie Seagroves, and Deborah Seagroves each of Greensboro, NC; a brother Robert Seagroves of Greensboro, NC; one Aunt, Wilma Whitaker of Georgia; one Uncle, Daniel Seagraves of High Point, NC. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A service honoring his life will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 11:30 am in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
