Thomas Wesley Crawford, Jr. son of the late Thomas Crawford, Sr. and Willie Mae Crawford Taylor, and raised by the late Queenie Crawford (paternal grandmother), was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on December 16, 1946 and departed this life on June 24, 2011 at the age 64.He was preceded in death by one brother, Stewart Crawford and one sister, Deborah Taylor. Thomas was a member of the 1965 graduating class of Dudley Senior High School where he participated in football and track. Upon completing high school, he went on to become a certified automobile mechanic and worked in this trade for two years. He then developed his skill as a butcher and later opened his own business, Imperial Quality Meats. Finally, he found his true love for trucking and worked as an independent contractor for FedEx for over twenty years. During his career with FedEx, he received numerous awards recognizing commitment and dedication.Thomas had a great love for antique automobiles and motorcycles, with his favorite being a candy red, 1957 Chevy and the Harley Davidson Bicentennial Limited Edition. In addition to his love for antique automobiles, he found a greater love for the sport of bodybuilding. He competed in Mr. World and Mr. Universe, and then went on to win the title of Mr. Greensboro and was the first black to win Mr. All South. Thomas also won â??Best Poserâ?? in Mr. Universe. For all who knew Thomas, Iâ??m sure you would agree that his ultimate passion was for â??the word of God.â?? He dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and preached the word to all who would listen. Thomas will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity. Mario, Linda Coltrane; stepmother, Hattie Mae Crawford of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Angela Reid (Kealton) of Greensboro, NC; Olga Dillworth (Arthur) of Winston-Salem, NC; Lisa Taylor of Manhattan, NY; Leverlie Fields(James) of Greensboro, NC; brother, Larry Taylor (wife) of Manhattan, NY; Darin Taylor of New York; grandchildren, Estevon, Cyntoria, Jaden, Jerbril, and Jerrell; step-grandchildren, Lemar, Jaharra, and Siedah; great-grandchild, Esaias; life long best friend, William Bailey; a host of close friends and other relatives.
