Terry completed his formative years of education in Greensboro Public schools graduating from James B. Dudley High School in 1973. Upon graduation, Terry enrolled into North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) but left briefly to serve in the United States Army. In October of 1985, he challenged the election of Superior Court Judgeships in Supreme Court of the United States, Oct. Term, 1985, James G. Martin (Appellants) v. Terry Haith (Appellee).
