Bro. Terry Lee Gray was born to the late Charles and Beulah Leatrice Gray on August 5, 1955. Terry's name was placed on the United House of Prayer roll at birth. At the age of two, Terry was not talking, and Sister Gray asked Daddy Grace about Terry. Daddy Grace told her "Don't worry about him, when he gets older you'll want him to stop talking." Truly Terry could talk to you from sun up to sun down. Terry was educated in the Greensboro school system attending Washington Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High, and Grimsley. Terry was also a member of the "Special Olympics" for over 40 years, playing Bocce Ball, Basketball and Softball. He loved traveling with his teammates – Gary, Jonathan, Kelvin and Ken. In Terry's youth, he was a member of the Peacemakers shout band, part of the youth choir, the Voice of Unity, a member of three Greensboro state choirs, and a dedicated,life time member of the "Greensboro Adult Choir. Terry also worked in the House of Prayer kitchen under Sis. Inez Crawford, Sis. Catherine Caldwell, St. Estelle Bowden and St. Henrietta Watts. He worked until sickness fell upon him in February of this year. Terry leave to remember his life: One uncle – Bennie J. Byers(Cheryl) of Coram, NY; two brothers – Mark and Nolan Gray; two sisters – Denise and Lynn Gray all of the home. Three nephews – Charles Elliott, Mark Jr., and Raymond Gray; two nieces – Eboni Covington of Greensboro and Michelle Smith(Jeremy) of Charlotte, N.C.; seven great nephews – Tyrik Dawkins, Anthony and Darren Gray, Jalil, Jahkari, Jahkai of Greensboro and Jeremy Jr., Charlotte, N.C.; one great niece – Maliyah Smith of Charlotte, N.C. ; one great great nephew – Adrian; a host of cousin: Candice Burns and family; Barbara, Dexter Hayes and family; Gwendolyn Hicklin and family; Dorothy Milton and family, and Paul Wilson and family and a host of friends.
A public viewing will be held Friday, March 12, 2021, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel. A visitation will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021, at 12:30 PM with service following 1:00 PM at United House of Prayer for All People. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery.
