Stuart Edward Perkins, 52, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Beacon Place-Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, NC. Stuart was born on July 20, 1967 in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was his grandfather's pride and joy, arriving as the first grandson. At an early age, Stuart joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church and participated in the Junior Choir, as well as the Junior Ushers. He loved family, and the family loved him. He was reared in the Spring Valley Community, where the epitome of a village raising children took place. Many attest that Stuart was the community baby. He enjoyed playing with the neighbors and visiting them in their homes. He attended Guilford County Schools, where he graduated from Ben L. Smith High School in 1985. Later, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1988 ranked as E5. Stuart worked in several different restaurants and acquired great culinary skills. His most recent employment was at Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, where he met many great people and developed lasting friendships. Stuart accepted Jesus Christ as His savior and held resolutely to the faith he professed. During his last seconds of life, his mother witnessed him raising his hands unto the Lord. It was a total spiritual act of surrender, and the Lord so quietly received him gracefully. What a beautiful site to behold! Stuart leaves to cherish his memories Tabatha, his wife; a daughter, Olivia McKenzie; and a grandson, Ace Jamison. In addition, he leaves his devoted parents; Larry and Jacqueline Perkins; two sisters, Kimberly Perkins, Greensboro, NC and Nyree Ferguson (Jeffery) of Charlotte, NC; three nephews and one niece, all of Charlotte, NC. He has a preponderance of very special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. A service honoring his life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Cedar Grove Tabernacle of Praise; 612 Norwalk St. Greensboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 11:30am with service following at 12pm. Internment will be at Salisbury National Cemetery. Romans 8:18- The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. We can only imagine what Stuart saw when he looked in Jesus' face.
