Mr. Shelby Douglas passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022.
A service honoring his life will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 12 noon in the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am.
Shelby was born in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Reverend John Frank Douglas, Jr., and Mary Evelyn Douglas. He was the oldest of two boys. On March 25, 2022, God in his Infinite Wisdom called Shelby Douglas to his Heavenly Kingdom.
Shelby professed his faith at an early age and joined Mount Olive Methodist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. Shelby was a quiet and gentle spirit, but his generosity spoke volumes to his character and love for family, friends and colleagues.
Shelby attended James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro. He obtained an Associate Degree from Rock Hill Junior College and graduated from NC A&T State University with a Bachelor's Degree in History Education. He entered Boston Graduate School where he graduated with a Degree in Human Services and Education. Shelby proudly served his country in the United States Army. After he completed his tour of duty, he was employed by Army Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) where he remained until he retired in 2010.
Shelby will always be remembered for his smile, warm and giving heart and for his love of people, jazz music, tennis, and traveling. He is preceded in death by his beloved father Reverend John Frank Douglas, Jr., and mother Mary Evelyn Douglas. He is survived by his brother John Douglas, III (Sandy), other relatives and friends.
Interment: Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
