Obituary

Ms. Ruth Arelene Smith, daughter of the late Martha Smith and Andrew B. Williams was born in New York City, New York on October 12, 1947. She was united in marriage to Leroy E. Frazier, Jr. Her joyful journey on this side ended on August 18, 2011 while residing in Phoenix, Arizona.Ruth was raised in New York City, New York and it was apparent at an early age that she had a zest for living life to the fullest. She had a personality that always danced to an up beat tempo!Ruth as a teenager put her stamp on being different and standing out in a crowd; as she was seen, known, admired and remembered by her creativity â??Red Hairâ??, which was uncommon for a young girl in the 1960s. Ruth recognized her artistic talents and attended Wilfred Beauty College in New York City, and held various jobs within the field of cosmetology. Later in life her desire to continue expressing her artistic talents lead her to Scottsdale, Arizona to attend the Scottsdale Culinary Institute. Ruth loved music, dancing, makeup, culinary and spending time with family and friends. She leaves to cherish in her memory, daughter, Tamika Frazier; grandson, Keyari Frazier-Council; sister, Ernestine Miller-Foster; ex-husband, Leroy E. Frazier, Jr.; aunt, Hellen Clark; niece, Bessie Miller-Sutton; nephews, Raymond, Kent and Edward Miller; great nieces, Elonga and Keesha Sutton and Chasity Hoagan; great nephews, Joshaua and Javaris Miller: a host of dear special family and friends too numerous to name. Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Leroy E. Frazier, III and Brother, James Raymond Miller, who with God welcomed her into the kingdom.
