Rupert Dudley Weekes III was born February 2, 1955 in Greensboro, NC to Rupert and Myrtle Weekes (both deceased). He passed on January 9, 2022. He grew up in Benbow Park and attended the Greensboro Public Schools. He graduated from Ben L. Smith High School in 1973. He attended A&T State University for a brief period. He excelled in football and had pro-football skills. Football was his dream but did not become his destiny. He immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1976. He served there for a period of time and received an honorable discharge. He returned to Greensboro, NC, married, and purchased a home. After a period of time, he divorced.

Rupert had challenges in his life, however, he was very intelligent, kind, clever, humorous, and known for his smile. In his later years, he returned back to school at Guilford Tech. Several days before his passing, he expressed to his sister, Adrienne that some things had worked out for him, offering the opportunity to return back to Guilford Tech to complete his coursework. Although he will not have the opportunity in this life to achieve those goals, our prayer is that the Creator of the Heavens and Earth forgive Rupert's shortcomings and grant him Paradise.

He is preceded in death by his parents Rupert and Myrtle Weekes and his sister Felecia Gail Jones. He leaves here to remember him, his sister, Dr. Adrienne A. Sabir, 2 aunts, Dottie Alston and Rueanne Weekes-Valentine, 4 nephews, 2 nieces, and a host of relatives, extended family, friends, and his life-long close childhood friend he stayed in contact with, Vincent Evans, a professional quarterback retiree.

A service honoring his life will be on January 25, 2022 at 11:30 am at Providence Baptist Church 1106 Tuscaloosa St. Greensboro, NC 27401. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am.

Internment will be at Salisbury National Cemetery 501 Statesville Blvd. Salisbury NC 28144.
