Mr. Rudy V. Moore died peacefully on Saturday February 16, 2019 at the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. In his final days, Rudy was surrounded by his loving family who cherished him as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Rudy was born June 9, 1936 to John Henry and Sarah Moore, in Darling, Mississippi. As a child, Rudy moved to Gary, IN and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Military service was very important to Rudy and he enlisted in 1957 in the United States Air Force (USAF) and served proudly for 20 years. During his military career, he was stationed throughout the United States and internationally. Rudy received the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant on Sept. 1, 1978. His career also included 10 years of service for the United States Postal Office and more than six years at North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro.

Rudy's happiest times were spent with his family. Rudy moved to Greensboro, NC and married his loving wife, Mrs. Brenda Crenshaw Moore, on September 30, 1975. Rudy's family includes daughter Mrs. Lisa Moore Duck, her husband Mr. Sandy Duck and grandson, Nathaniel of Greensboro, NC; and daughter Rochelle Moore (Raleigh) and son Rudy Moore, Jr. and his wife, Sara (Tampa) and granddaughter Chrishelle (Raleigh) and grandson, Rudy III (Tampa).

Rudy was a very private, quiet and humble man. In keeping with his military training, Rudy was structured and precise. His family and friends enjoyed his warm sense of humor. Rudy loved to play cards, travel with his family and follow the Carolina Tar Heels and Panthers. He will always be remembered for his deep and steadfast love of his family and proud military service.

Rudy is predeceased by his parents, John and Sara Moore and his sisters, Dorothy Moore and Zelodious Moore. In addition to his wife and children, Rudy is survived by nieces (special niece "Cookie"), cousins and many other relatives and friends. A service honoring his life will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Bethel A.M.E. Church; 200 N. Regan St. Greensboro, NC. The visitation will begin at 11:30 am and the service will follow at 12 pm. The interment will take place the next day, Friday, February 22, 2019 at Salisbury National Cemetery.
