AllenOfficiating~Obituary~Ruby Lynette Blackwell Parks was born on November 18, 1922 in Guilford County to the late Blanche Donnell Blackwell & Joseph Blackwell. She was the oldest living child of fourteen (14) children born to this union. She departed this earthly life on January 23, 2012 after a brief illness.Lynette attended J. C. Price Elementary School in Greensboro, North Carolina during her formative years and graduated from James B. Dudley High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Education (1949) and a Master of Science in Education (1980) from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State College. Lynette spent two (2 years) in the United States Army Air Corps stateside during WWII. After graduation from college, she moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to start her teaching career. She returned to Greensboro, met and married the late Dennis E. Parks, Jr. in 1956 and to this union she raised a son and a daughter. As an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church, she served on the Deaconess and Missionary Boards. She was also an active member of Beta Ioha Omega Chapter; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; a life member of Gate City Alumni Chapter; Magnolia Chapter of the Eastern Star; and the Household of Ruth.Lynette taught high school and junior high school in Lincolnton and Yanceyville, North Carolina and adult education in Greensboro until her retirement in 1983.Lynette is survived by her son: Jodolphus E. Parks of the home; daughter, Lewvenia D. Parks of Greensboro, North Carolina; sisters: Juanita B. Dye and Mildred Blackwell Evans both of Greensboro; eleven (11) nieces; nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.
