Monday, April 25, 201111:00 a.m.Providence Baptist Church1106 Tuscaloosa StreetGreensboro, North CarolinaReverend Dr. Howard Allen Chubbs, Senior PastorOfficiatingRose Lee Martin Vines, daughter to Willis Bennett Martin and Mahalia Duncan Martin of South Boston, VA. , departed this life April 18, 2011. She was the youngest of three children; James Howard Alexander Henderson and Janice Martin Williams, both preceding her in death.In 1936 she married John Lee Edgar Vines Sr. who preceded her in Death in 1995. She moved to Greensboro and became the mother of two children, Madie Evans and LaValle Hendricks. John and Rose had two sons, John Lee Edgar Vines Jr. and Willis Bennett Vines, who also preceded her in death. Rose Lee is also survived by two nieces, Vanessa Ragsdale and Barbara Barnes, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Working together, Rose Lee and John contributed to the community by establishing a USO for Black Military Members, operating Vines Dry Cleaners, both in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, where Rose Lee used her talents as a seamstress. She continued doing alterations for family and friends until her death. Rose Lee was a dedicated member of Providence Baptist Church from 1936 until her death. At Providence, she served on the Deaconess and Usher Boards. She was a member of the Alert Circle, as well as the Julia Hyatt Missionary Circle. Rose Lee was also a member of the Eastern Star.Rose Lee had a lifetime love for photography and collecting pictures. She and John traveled extensively making friends all over the country. Rose Lee maintained those connections throughout her life. One thing about Rose Lee Martin Vines, she and John kept their home open to the community. Many called it home, whether it was Sunday dinner, a place to sleep, clean clothes or help with school.
