Roman Peele Blount III was the first child born to Roman P. Blount Jr. and Sarah Ruth Blount in Wilson, North Carolina. His father moved the family to Greensboro, N.C. in 1955. The family joined Trinity AME Zion Church where Roman grew up in the church singing in the Children's Choir, under the leadership of his mother. Roman was active in the Scouting Program where his father served as a Scout Master. Roman attended Miraculous Medal for his elementary and junior high years. For high school he attended Notre Dame High School and then attended Ben L. Smith Senior High School. After graduation, he attended Winston Salem State University, majoring in Political Science. He worked as a cameraman for WFMY-TV for many years. He later joined Carolina Catering and worked extensively in the food services industry. He maintained a love for videography and worked as a videographer on many local and state projects. Roman was an avid lover of nature, and he enjoyed riding and collecting bicycles. He embraced his heritage by sharing history lessons about people he loved. He enjoyed sharing family history surrounding his grandfather's store. His uncle Leonard was a Pullman Porter, and Roman's father marched during the Greensboro Sit In movement. In Roman's final days he enjoyed sharing oral histories that he learned from Ola Noland Simmons, his children's great grandmother, who survived the pandemic of 1918. His legacy was sharing the legacy of others. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Roman P. Blount IV (Lindsay), his daughter Rycal Jacqueline Simmons Blount, his sister Rosalind Blount Lee (Allane) and Robin Simmons Blount.
