Mr. Robert Lee Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Funeral service will be held Friday, August 7, 2026 11:30am Cassie Coote Brown Memorial Chapel at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home 909 East Market Street Greensboro,North Carolina. Visitation 11am. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park 3600 North O' Henry Boulevard Greensboro, North Carolina.

Robert Lee Mitchell, 59 of Greensboro, NC was born October 12, 1966 in Lumberton, NC to John H. Mitchell and the late Lela P. Mitchell.

Robert’s parents moved to Jersey City, NJ, when he was two years old. Robert attended Hudson County Schools. As a child, Robert was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in West New York, NJ where he was a member of the choir. As he got older, he joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jersey City, NJ.

Robert worked at Emerson Electronics for a couple of years. He then worked for seventeen years at a facility serving children born to mothers affected by substance use. He truly loved his job. During his free time, he loved to travel, sing (which he was a member of several mass choirs in NJ) and just enjoy his life. He always knew how to make you smile.

Robert moved to Greensboro, NC in 2003. A couple of months later, he had a massive stroke, that left him dependent on dialysis for twenty-three years. Even throughout all his health problems, he never complained and participated in almost all family functions. No matter how he was feeling he always showed up with a smile, ready to eat and laugh.

He is survived by his father, John H. Mitchell (of the home); his sister, Gloria Robinson (Greensboro, NC); his nephew, Martis Robinson (Greensboro, NC); his niece, Shaquiela Robinson (Dallas, TX); his great niece, Riley N. Robinson (Winston-Salem, NC); several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and especially two special friends for over forty years, Valerie and Elexis (or as he called them Val & Lex) of NJ.

He was loved by many and will truly be missed.
