Rita H. Turnley was born April 21, 1956 to William Holt and the Late Julia Holt in Danville, Virginia. She was educated in the Danville County School System.

Rita was employed by United Guaranty Insurance Company for more than twenty-five (25) years. She enjoyed the Andy Griffith Show and has seen all televised episodes. Because of her love for the show, her daughter surprised her with a trip to Mt. Airy (Mayberry) there she visited some of the popular sites--from the show house to the barbershop, etc. She and her daughter were the best of friends and loved to talk from sunup to sundown. Although she never personally owned a pet, she loved being around pets and playing with them whenever she had the opportunity.

Rita was a very caring individual with a big heart. She was nourishing to others and would give the shirt off of her back to help anyone. She traveled with her husband to so many destinations over the years. She will be extremely missed by her grandchildren, whom she adored and would do anything for them. She had a smile that could light up any room! Also, she was an outstanding mother, wife, sister, grand-mother, friend, and overall great person.

Rita leaves behind many memories to be cherished by her husband Floyd of twenty-five (25) years; daughter: Selina (Cedrick) McMasters; sister: Carol McCain; grandchildren: Xiomara and Zaniyah McMasters; many nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

A service honoring her life will be held Monday, February 24, 2020 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church; 408 Martin Luther King Drive, Greensboro, NC. The service will begin at 12 noon.
