Rita Jean Holloway went to "dwell in the house of the Lord" on Monday, March 8, 2021, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, in Greensboro, NC. Although this was a shock for family, Saints and friends, Sister Holloway had lived a life pleasing to the Lord and she can rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus. She was born July 21, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to her mother Dorothy M. Lewis, and her deceased father. She graduated from Fenger High School; received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Chicago State University; and gave her life to the Lord. She loved animals, was an avid reader, enjoyed learning, and could absorb all types of knowledge. Her favorite scriptures were the 23rd Psalm and Rev. 10: 1-5; and she was encouraged by gospel music, especially songs by Rance Allen. Rita left Chicago and joined her mother in Greensboro in 2007, where she served her community volunteering at Moses Cone Hospital for ten years. She and Arnold became very active members of Wells Memorial Church of God in Christ (COGIC). Her involvement included: the Nurses Unit, Bereavement Ministry, Senior Ladies Sunday School Class, Tuesday Night Bible Study, Food Pantry Ministry, a prayer warrior, and a willing worker wherever needed.

Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Well done.

Sister Rita Jean Holloway's kind, caring legacy will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Wells Memorial Church of God in Christ from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM prior to service. Burial Forest Lawn Cemetery.
