Obituary

Richard Louis Everett affectionately known as Hammer by His wife of 53 years Christine Williams Everett entered this side of heaven on July 7, 1937 in Kinston, North Carolina. He was born to the late John W. Everett and Bertha G. Mumford. He departed on his journey to heaven on April 11, 2014 after a brief stay at Beacon Place - Hospice of Greensboro, North Carolina.

Richard attended Savannah High School in Kinston, North Carolina. After graduation he pursued his passion for aircraft by enlisting in the U.S Navy. His discipline was Flight Support. His job included aviation supply, the inspection of aircraft engines as well as the aircraft fuel systems to ensure that all aircraft maintenance performed was executed  correctly to ensure the crew safety. Richard tour of duty included Guantanamo Naval Base in Cuba during the turbulent early 1960's.

Richard union with Christine Marie Williams began on September 9, 1960. To this union was born Richetta Marie Everett who preceded him in death on August 15, 1966. Christopher O'Neil Everett and Veronica Yvette Everett Gray.

During Richard lifetime he was employed by Lorillard Tobacco Co. As well as the U.S Postal Service before pursuing his love for brick masonry. He was known for his intricate brick work and was requested by custom builders to construct fancy designs for well known builders in the Greensboro and surrounding areas.

Richard favorite pastimes included gardening, fishing, crocheting, woodwork and many other talents he was skilled to accomplish.

Richard had a passion for God and would often share with his family his unwavering faith. He was a member of St.James Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was a friend to many and he never met a stranger. He love to talk to young people and it could be said that he could relate to any subject. He would spend countless hours listening to CNN and was in touch with world events until the final moments of his life.

He leave to cherish his memory by his children as well as sisters JoAnne Ambrose, Bernice Freeman, Yvonne Fonville, preceded in death Bertha Yates. His brothers who proceeded him in death Leon Everett, Royal Everett, Jessie Everett, Percy Everett, Kenneth Everett, John W. Everett and James Everett. One daughter-in-Law Lorri Everett of Greensboro, One son in-law Darin Gray, granddaughters Kiera Tanay Gray, Lauren Nicole Everett, Deja Christiana Gray, grandsons Christopher O'Neil Everett and Charles Mungo. Great Grandson Julian Dorsett and a host of nieces and nephews and special friends.
