Obituary

Richard Alexander Adger was born September 16, 1944 to the late Vashti and Richard Adger in White Oak, South Carolina. He passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Richard graduated from James B. Dudley Senior High School in 1962. Upon graduation he joined the US Air Force. After four years of honorable service in the Air Force, he attended technical school to study electronics. During his professional life, he held various technical positions with different companies. He finished his professional career at General Dynamics in Greensboro. He was a long time devoted member of Trinity AME Zion Church, and he loved his menâ??s Sunday school class. Richard was a devoted family man who was committed to loving his family in every way. He especially enjoyed the Gaither Family Reunions and he also loved attending reunions and events with his fellow 1962 Dudley High School class members. He enjoyed travelling, jazz music, photography, trains, and tinkering with all sorts of electronic gadgets. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce; son, Kelly Grissom ( Susan); grandchildren, Alex, Noah, and Lauren; sisters, Nancy Adger and Eileen Wooten (Felton);brother-in-law: Roy Collins; nieces Eileen Collins, Shannan Holloway (Harold), and Jessica Wooten; and a host of relatives and friends. A memorial service honoring his life will be held at Trinity AME Zion Church on Friday, May 26, 2017. The visitation will begin at 1:30 pm and the service will follow at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity AME Zion Church (GAD Tribe).
