Quandell Dwan Grimes, 35, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, September 2, 2017, in Greensboro, after a short illness. A graveside service will be held at noon, Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Greensboro. Supt. Herman G. Platt, pastor of Wells Memorial Church of God in Christ, will officiate. Quandell was born March 17, 1982, in Syracuse, NY. He received his high school diploma from Guilford Technical Community College and was the commencement speaker. He later studied at Forsyth Technical Community College. He was a jack-of-all-trades, having apprenticed under masons, painters, landscapers, and chefs. He completed a Culinary Arts Skills Training Program; an American Culinary Federation Quality Program and was honing his skills as a chef. Describe Quandell … his life was enveloped in LOVE: He Loved the Lord his God, Jesus Christ, with his whole heart. He accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior at a tender age and rededicated himself to the Lord, just in time. He often fellowshipped at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and Wells Memorial Church of God in Christ in Greensboro. Quandell loved his family and he loved to read and study The Holy Bible. He was known to call family members and say, "Got your Bible? I want to share something with you." He had a love for books and even aspired to be a writer. He was sensitive and thoughtful in his approach to writing; as was evident in his personal journals. He leaves to mourn, the pride of his life, son, Malik Majette; mother, Karen Seals; siblings Stephan, Sakena, Brandy, Jabreal, and Stephen; his endeared Aunt Renee and Uncle Gerald Seals; aunts and uncles; cousins; nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Stephan Grimes; devoted maternal grandparents; Supt. Chester A. Seals & Mrs. Vivian O. Seals; paternal grandmother, Eartha L. Humphrey and grandfather, George Humphrey; maternal great-grandparents, Dr. Hyrd and Mrs. Bessie Seals all of Syracuse, NY; and paternal great-grandmother Essie Mae Rivers of Denmark, SC. Since Quandell loved people and loved being around people, he never met a stranger. He was well-received, entreated and loved by many, anywhere he ventured. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of friends, especially Cedric McMasters.
