Phyllis Roberta Guy, age 86, died at Beacon Place in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Tuesday November 24, 2015.  Born August 4, 1929 to George and Annie Thompson,  in Lynchburg, Virginia, she lived in Greensboro.  She graduated from North Carolina Central University where she earned her music degree in voice.  She worked for Guilford County School system as a music teacher until retiring.    Phyllis was a member of Sigma Gamma Rio Society, Foster Grandparent Community Nutrition Program, and senior center participant of Senior Resources of Greensboro. She loved handbells and piano.  She taught and played   all around the city of Greensboro.  Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She   is survived by son: Samuel E. Guy, Jr. (Evette); grandsons: Samuel E. Guy III and Gabriel C. Guy; sister: Josephine Jackson of Detroit, Michigan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.    Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Samuel E. Guy, Sr.  A service honoring the live of Mrs. Guy will take place on Tuesday December 1, 2015 at St. James Presbyterian Church, 820 Ross Avenue, Greensboro, North Carolina 27406. The visitation will begin at 11:00am and the service will follow at 12:00pm. The interment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 North O henry Boulevard, Greensboro, NC 27405.
