Rev. Pauline Jessup Poole was born in Sampson County, Garland, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents the late Wayman, Sr., and Maie Lee Jessup, husband Willie Poole, Jr. son: Bennie Clyde Newman, Jr., and brother Wayman Jessup, Jr. Rev. Poole was a very loving and affectionate person. She moved to Greensboro in 1960 during the Woolworth Sit-In Movement. She was an entrepreneur of numerous businesses including retail and real estate. Rev. Poole was Elder of the West Central North Carolina A.M.E. Zion Conference and the C.M.E. Conference for over 40 years. She was a faithful member of St. Stephens A.M.E. Zion Church of Garland, North Carolina. She was a graduate of Shaw University School of Divinity, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and James B. Dudley High School. Rev. Poole was a class leader Sunday school teacher, missionary vice -president and noon day Bible teacher for over 25 years. She will be missed by everyone. She had a lovely smile, always speaking of the Lordâ??s goodnessâ??what a sweet mother we had for so long. We love you Mother Pauline, but God loves you best. Rev. Poole leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved daughter and caregiver: Carline Newman; sons: William Tyree Poole and Claudios Williams; grandson: Sammy Lee Newman (Laura); god-daughters: Sister Mildred Lawson and Janell Norman; sister: Lynette Spearman; sister-in-laws: Eva Allen, Rosa Scruggs (Art) and Marie Foust; brother-in-law: R. J. Spearman; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins; and a host of many other relatives and friends. A service honoring the life of Rev. Poole will be held on Wednesday, February,3, 2016 at Mt. Olivet AME Zion Church, 2123 McConnell Road, Greensboro, North Carolina 27401. The visitation will begin at 11:00 am and the service will follow at 11:30 am.
