He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Frances Walker and brothers, Tommy, Jr. and Joseph.Paul attended the Greensboro City Schools and graduated from James B. Dudley High School in 1956. He was a football stand-out at Dudley and later became an avid golfer. Paul served in the United States Army, the United States Coast Guard, and later worked with the Greensboro Fire Department.In 1958 he married Thelma McEachirn. Five children were born from this union. Paul was recently honored with the First Black Firefighters of Greensboro. After twenty-five years of service, he retired from North Shore Hospital as a night guardsman.Paul is survived by his wife, Thelma McEachirn Walker of Greensboro, North Carolina; daughters, Vickie Walker of Inglewood, California; Linda Walker Ward (LaShaun) of High Point, North Carolina; Robin Walker of Greensboro, North Carolina; Dyane Walker Barrientos (Carlos) of Charlotte, North Carolina; sons, Paul Walker, Jr. of Greensboro, North Carolina, Jerome Smith (Eyrania) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; stepson, Darryl McEachirn of Greensboro, North Carolina; sister, Mildred Walker Graddick of Greensboro, North Carolina; grandchildren, Latia Ward, Jerome Smith, Jr., Alexus Smith, Cheryl Greene, Ashley McEachirn; niece, Tammy Walker; nephews, Anthony Walker and Kenneth Walker; many cousins and a host of friends.
