Mr. Otis Lee Wilson, Sr. transitioned from earth to glory on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his wife, children, siblings, and grandchildren. A native of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Otis was the husband of Linda Richardson Wilson and son of the late Otis Obadiah Wilson and Azalee Mitchell Wilson. He was preceded in death by his son, Marcus Wilson and younger sister, Michelle Wilson. Otis graduated from Bullard-Havens Technical School in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He volunteered and served four years in the United States Air Force as an Airborne Radio Repairman. Otis received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia and was later awarded a Master of Business Administration Degree from Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. Otis was employed by Western Electric (AT&T Corporation) for over thirty years, working in the Charlotte, Atlanta, Miami, Princeton, and Greensboro offices. Otis became the managing director of the UNIX Software Licensing Program and maintained a global market presence for AT&T computer products. He was the first African American District Manager for the southeastern region of AT&T. An avid volunteer and advocate for his community, Otis served as Chair of the Guilford County Human Relations Commission, Vice-Chair of the Board of Management for Hayes-Taylor YMCA, Member of the Executive Board for United Way of North Carolina, Chair of the Executive Board of United Way of Greater Greensboro, Chair of the Planning and Allocations Committee of the United Way of Greater Greensboro, Member of the Board of Directors of One Step Further, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Greensboro Housing Authority, Member of the Board of Directors for Welfare Reform Liaison Project, Inc., Member of the Board of Directors for Affordable Housing Management Inc., Member of the Board of Directors of Triad Stage, Member of the Steering Committee for Other Voices, Member of the Guilford Extension Advisory Council, and was a Member of the Board of Directors for Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro. He was also a graduate of Leadership Greensboro. Otis was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for over twenty-five years. He was a gifted builder and creative designer and served as Minister of Facilities during and after the construction of the present edifice. Otis loved God and studied to gain a deeper revelation of His Word. His favorite past time was perfecting his golf game and he was a connoisseur of fine cuisine. He leaves to cherish his memory and honor his legacy, his wife, Linda Richardson Wilson; seven children, Marchette Brown of Charlotte, NC; Lechelle Wardell of Knightdale, NC; Enid Foster (Aubrey) of Spartanburg, SC; India Wilson of Greensboro, NC; Shonica Mitchell (James) of Atlanta, GA; Amber Smoot (Kevin) of Silver Spring, MD; and Otis Wilson, Jr. of Columbus, OH; twelve grandchildren, Marsann Jones (Rico), Ian Wilson, Chris Drummond, Kennedy Foster, Caleb Foster, Aaron Wilson, Brandon Wardell, Alysa Wilson, Khloe Smoot, Cameron Smoot, Dylan Smoot, and Cruz Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Rico Jones and Ricky Jones; three sisters, Geraldine Wolff and Cheryl Daniels (John) of Louisville, KY; Naomi Hunt (Alton) of Morganton, NC; four brothers, Kenneth Wilson (Ann) and Milton Wilson (Deborah) of Tampa, FL; Timothy Wilson of Houston, TX; and Ronald Wilson (Mavis) of Charlotte, NC; Mother-In-Law, Mrs. Pattie Mae Solomon Richardson, nine brothers-in-law, fifteen sisters-in-law, and a plethora of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
