Miss Ossie Lee Bembry was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nathan Bembry on November 11, 1943. She lived with them until their deaths. Ossie then moved to Greensboro, North Carolina where she resided until her transition on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.
Ossie attended school in Pulaski COunty where she graduated from J. L. Bozeman High School in 1961. After graduation, she worked at Slappey Laundromat and the family farm. Later, she gained employment in New York City for a while. Due to her illness, she returned to Hawkinsville and continued to work on the family farm.
Four siblings survive Miss Bembry: Mrs. Dorothy Bembry-Guet of Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Sylvia Bembry Alford (Eli) of Greesboro, NC, Dr. Deborah Elaine Bembry of Albany, GA, and Mr. Stanley Wayne Bembry (Shela) of Chattanooga, TN. Six siblings preceded her in death: Walter Lee Bembry, Joe Cephus bembry, Linda Bembry Moore, James Carl Bembry, Gregory Mark Bembry and Elliot Floyed Bembry. Her parents, Joe Nathan and La-donia Bembry are both deceased.
While Ossie had no children of her own, assisted in raising her nieces and nephews: Marcia Denise Parker (Donovan), Quentin Moore (Tina), Antonio Moore (Lisa), Andre Moore, Veronica Moore, Jonathan Eli Alford (Melissa), La-donia Alford Jefferies (Michael), Ashley Tara Bembry, Fredric Kyle Bembry, Lena Bembry and Stanley Paul Bembry. In addition, she leaves to mourn a host of great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 in Hawkinsville, Georgia.
