Obituary

Mrs. Nanette G. Love, affectionately known as "Baba" departed this life on February 18, 2020 . She was the second child born to the late Eddie and Constance S. Griffin and granddaughter of James Arthur and Nannie M. Shoffner.

Nanette was educated in the Greensboro Public Schools and attended David D. Jones, JC Price Jr. High and Dudley High School. She was one of only a few from Greensboro chosen to participate in the Upward Bound Program in the late 60's. She attended NCA&T and University of Greensboro - UNCG where she graduated with a BS degree in Economics.

Baba was very gifted, smart, a hard and dedicated worker in whatever she did. She was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for about 20 years but eventually she found that teaching was her passion. She loved being a substitute teacher for many schools, Dudley and Smith but her heart was at Jackson Middle school. She loved the children and they loved her.

She found a hobby in ceramics and made many artifacts from her heart. Eventually she loved it so much, "Baba's Creations" was formed. She gave many of the items to friends, special people and also to those she didn't know. To know " Nanette, Baba," as many did, was to love her. God blessed her with the right name "Love" - She earned it.

Baba also was active in her church New Goshen UM Church where she was a member of the choir, served as the past secretary of the Administration Board and the social action representative of New Goshen UM Church. Her mission was to collect food and feed the homeless at the Urban Ministry. Baba also loved politics and she worked as a poll worker during the elections until her illness.

Other hobbies included playing the piano and traveling to Florida to visit her daughter.

She was married to the late Douglas McHardy and to this union a daughter, "Marsha" was born.

She leaves to cherish her memory Mr. Michael Love(husband), Marsha McHardy (Jennifer), of Orlando, FL, two step daughters, Candice and Nikki, three sisters, Edwina "Pat" Smith (Ronald), Thomasena Jones (Jonathan), Gertrude "GG" Pennix (Lewis), brothers, Dr. Alvin Griffin (Pamela), James "Yogi" Griffin, nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of relatives and many friends, including best friend Ms. Betty Smith.
