Ms. Wynetta Delois Hunt passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, 12:00 p.m. Cassie Coote Brown Memorial Chapel at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home 909 East Market Street Greensboro, North Carolina. Visitation 11:30 a.m.

In the morning of Wednesday, June 17, 2026, God commanded an Angel of Mercy to carry his faithful servant to her Heavenly home.

Wynetta Delois “Lois” Hunt was born in Warrenton, NC on June 5, 1943. She was the tenth of thirteen children born to the late Beamon F. Hunt, Sr. and Nettie V. Burgess Hunt. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Eugene Hunt, Sr., Cote Richardson, Clementine Franklin, and Thearl Hunt. Lois confessed her faith at an early age and joined Shocco Missionary Baptist Church where she actively attended Sunday School and church services with her parents and siblings. The relationship with God at an early age would provide a strong spiritual foundation for the rest of her life.

Lois was educated in the local public schools and was a proud graduate of the John R. Hawkins High School Class of 1962. After graduation, Lois followed the path of her older siblings and left home in search of new opportunities and adventures beyond the family farm. Full of spirit and curiosity Lois “set her sights” on relocating to Greensboro, NC where her older brother Eugene (“Gene”) and her sister-in-law, Mamie, lived with their young family. Lois lived with Gene and Mamie temporarily until she secured employment that enabled her to move into her first apartment. Living in Greensboro provided Lois with a lot of firsts; her first paid job, first concert, her first car, and her first home. However, out of all these first-time experiences, the most important “first" milestone for Lois was motherhood. Lois was blessed to have two daughters, Michelle Delores Hunt-Moore and Hattie Dionne Moore. Later, Lois was blessed to become a grandmother or “Dee Dee” as her precious grandchildren affectionately called her.

 Lois was industrious and obtained gainful employment with the following businesses: L. Richardson Hospital, JP Stevens, McLeod’s Leather and Belt, Western Electric (later AT & T), and Wellspring Nursing Facility. During her tenure at Wellspring Nursing Facility, Lois discovered her true passion as a private duty nursing assistant. In this role, Lois provided compassionate care for countless clients and their families before retiring after 30 years in the healthcare field. Even after her formal retirement, Lois continued as an “informal caregiver” extending care for her grandchildren and a few of her neighbors who were experiencing declining health.

As Lois matured, she felt the need to have “covering” and joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC where she was under the spiritual leadership of Reverend Prince Graves, Reverend Samuel Lee Fogle and later Reverend Dr. Mark Fisher until transferring her Christian membership to St. James Baptist Church in Greensboro. Lois was a faithful member of the St. James congregation and enjoyed the teachings and leadership of Reverend Dr. Jerome Lee, Jr. until her health declined; however, Lois streamed service every Sunday and continued to read her Bible daily to ensure that her spirit was “fed”. Over the last year, Lois engaged in weekly biblical conversations with two of her dear friends (Barbara and Reggie) who she met when they were members at St. James Baptist Church.

Lois was a loving family member, a loyal friend, and neighbor. Lois was also an avid shopper . . . she was particularly fond of Alfred Dunner, Coldwater Creek, Jones New York, Kasper, and Le Suit. Lois was also a natural storyteller with a keen since of humor who loved sharing stories from her childhood with her children, grandchildren, and others. Lois loved to smile and was always ready to pose at any time that a camera/camera phone was near. She was a huge fan of “The Family Feud”, the Carolina Panthers, the Dallas Cowboys . . . although there was some debate as to whether she watched the game or watched the players (specially, Cam Newton and Dak Prescott).

Lois’ personality and presence shall be missed by all who knew and loved her: She leaves to mourn her loss: two beloved daughters, Michelle Hunt-Moore and Dionne Moore; two extra special grandchildren, Erica Hunt and Keith Thompson (Ashley); five precious great grandchildren, Linzi Biggs, Joshua Hatten-Williams and Jordan Hatten-Williams, Peighton Thompson and Kassidy Thompson; and eight dear siblings: Brothers: Beamon, Dock (Loretta), Christopher, Conrad (Viola); Sisters: Lucy Brown, Nello (Nell) Carter, Shirley Johnson, Salonia (Melvin) Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; several close cousins, Ms. Katherine Mobley, Ms. Sylvia Burgess, and Ms. Millicent Hopkins; and close friends, Ms. Myrtle “Myrt” Edwards, Mr. Reggie and Ms. Barbara Knight, Ms. Daisy Norman, Ms. Rosetta Clayton, Ms. Ann Williams-Kennedy, Mr. David Cowan, Mr. Clifton and Mrs. Alicia Townes; two dedicated and extra caring caregivers, “Ms. Renise” Joy and “Ms. Mamie” Nash; and Mr. Jose Cervantes her lawn care provider who she affectionately called “grandson”.
