The sun set on Howard Lee Moore, June 4, 2026. Howard was born August 9, 1937, to the late Chalmers and Irene Moore in Kershaw, SC. He was preceded in death also by his brother, Laborn Moore, sisters Sara Moore and Shirley Murphy. Howard was educated in the Greensboro Public School System (Lincoln Junior High School, James B. Dudley Senior High School, and GTCC)
He was married to Thelma Maxwell Moore for 17 years. From that union they had a son Howard Tryone "TY" Moore and a daughter Sherl Denise Moore.
Howard loved the Lord and he was a faithful and founding member of the Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro,NC. Over the years he served as a Usher, Van Driver, Audio Visual Technician, Trustee, and wherever he saw a need, he served. Howard said "he did whatever he could to make Saint Paul great." Over the years , Howard held many jobs, however he retired after 30 years plus of service from Lorillard Tobacco Company. Howard was an avid bowler, and he enjoyed the fellowship of competing with his fellow Lorillard co-workers in their company's league. He also bowled and traveled with his Masonic Lodge as they participated in various tournaments. His collection of trophies throughtout his home represented his passion for the sport.
He leaves behind to mourn his life his two children, Howard Tyrone "TY" Moore(Regina), Sherl Denise Moore, two grandchildren, Marissa Chemil Moore(Brandon McLaurin) and Matthew Scarlock, one great granddaughter, Harper Regin McLaurin, his former wife, Thelma Maxwell Moore and a special friend until the end Sarah Windbush.
Funeral service will be held Friday June 12, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church 1309 Larkin Street Greensboro, North Carolina 27406. Visitation 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be held at Guilford Memorial Park 6000 West Gate City Boulevard Greensboro, North Carolina 27407.
