Minister Johnson was born in Mt. Holly, NC on April 18, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Willie and Carrie Hancock. At the age of 71, she entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 17, 2012.Dignity, elegance, courage, faith-filled and strength are just a few words that describe Minister Johnson.She accepted the Lord as her personal savior when she was seventeen years of age and was baptized at Rock Grove Church in Mt. Holly, NC. After attending Reid High School, Minister Johnson graduated from Kate Bitting Reynolds Memorial Hospital of Nursing; and furthered her education at North Carolina A&T State University. In February 2008, she received her Diploma in Biblical Studies from the Seminary Extension of the Southern Baptist Convention. Minister Johnson also graduated from Challenge Greensboro Leadership Program, which was instrumental in Greensboro becoming an "All American City". Minister Johnson was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing â?? Mu Tau Chapter and CHI ETA PHI Nursing Sorority, Inc. She was a member of the North Carolina Nurses Association and served on the Board of Directors and the American Nurses Association.Minister Johnson received numerous nursing awards. In 1992, she was recognized by Governer Jim Hunt for her Superior performance in Nursing.She was chosen as one of the "Great 100 Nurses" in the State of North Carolina. She was also recognized for her superior nursing and leadership abilities by the North Carolina Public Health Association. While at A&T she received awards for outstanding academic and educational achievement and represented the School of Nursing at Ohio State University in Columbus. The exemplary Service Award was received from the Guildford County Sheriff's Department; Health and Safety Award from the Greensboro Public School System.
