Mrs. Mazie Stephens passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022. A service honoring her life will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Genesis Baptist Church; 2812 E. Bessemer Ave. Greensboro NC. The visitation will begin at 11:30 and the service will follow at 12 pm. The burial will follow the service at Lakeview Memorial Park; 3600 N. O'Henry Blvd. Greensboro NC.

Mazie Boyd Stephens, became the second child of the late James and Eunice Boyd, on May 20, 1952. After a courageous battle with cancer, the angels were dispatched and she transitioned from this earthly life on November 16, 2022.

Mazie Boyd Stephens was born in Nichols, South Carolina. The family decided to relocate and settled in Greensboro, North Carolina. After moving to Greensboro, she attended Greensboro City Schools and attended James B. Dudley Senior High School.

Mazie Boyd Stephens was a dedicated employee who served for 40 years with Guilford County Schools. She made lasting connections with those she came in contact with at Washington Elementary School and Dudley High School.

She was a faithful member of New Faith Baptist Church and enjoyed worshiping there with other family members.

She absolutely loved everyone and everything associated with Dudley High School and often wore attire to show her "Panther Pride". Additionally, she enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams, the Atlanta Braves, Washington "Redskins" Commanders, and UNC-Chapel Hill basketball. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Throughout this journey, her best friend, Cynthia, has been by her side.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary "Freda" Boyd and James "Charlie" Boyd.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Stephens, daughters Iris Boyd and Ashley Wade (Hassan); grandchildren: Courtney Wright (Darrin), Corey Boyd, Layla & Zari Wade; great-grandchild: Amari Wright; siblings: Cynthia Bracken, Phyllis, Ervin (LaTisha), Bobby, Terry, and John "Otis" Boyd; in-laws: George Stephens (Angie) of Detroit, MI, and Sallye Sims (Johnny) of Atlantic City, NJ; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
