GREENSBORO - Maxine Thomas Johnson of Greensboro entered into eternal rest on February 8, 2012 in Orlando, Florida following a brief illness. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Providence Baptist Church, 1106 Tuscaloosa Street. Family hour and visitation begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by the service at 12 p.m. Entombment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park on Highway 29 North. Mrs. Johnson had lived in North Wilkesboro and Reidsville before moving to Greensboro in 1983. She received the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Psychology from North Carolina Agricultural and State University and was employed in Alamance County as a Psychologist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Johnson, Sr. Maxine is survived by daughters, Palverna Burns Brown (Mack), Orlando, Florida and Montrose Pelham (Jimmy), Forest Hills, MD, and son Joseph Johnson Jr. (Mary), Sedalia, NC; sisters, Verniece Rock and Rosetta Hill; brothers, Joe Thomas and Dennis Thomas; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or your favorite charity in Maxine's memory. The family is being served by Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.
