Mr. Maurice Harris was born February 12, 1928 in Rockingham County, Reidsville, NC to the late Napoleon Bolden and Cordelia Harrison.
He departed this life at his home in Greensboro,, NC on March 20, 2015.
After Maurice completed high school, he began work in Reidsville and Guilford County. He was employed at Lorillard for over 35 years and retired as a certified machinist/fixer. He was loved and respected by his employer and employees. Â He was also a home builder.
Maurice was loved and will be remembered for his kind nature. He did not complain during his illness and often times when asked how are you, he sometimes would say, â??I am good and all we can do is take it day by dayâ??.
He really did enjoy eating a variety of foods and was very thankful for what was done on his behalf. Â His words were few and he smiled often. Â When he did initiate talking, it was simply amazing to hear about the earlier history of his life.
Maurice Harris was preceded in death by his daughter, Jean Wright and his father and mother.
Loving memories of his life will be cherished by his wife, Hester Harris;
one sister: Paula Bolden (nephew, Michael)l; three daughters: Eunice Huff (Charlie), Ira Jessup (Marquis), and Cordelia Harris; four sons: Waverly Harris (Deloris), Calvin Harris (Diane), Mike Harris (Pat), and Kwan Harris.
He is also survived by nine additional children of his wife, Mary Degraffenreidt (Fred), Veria Franklin, Earlveen Hawkins, Marveen Perkins (Angelo), Evelyn Ratliffe, Theo Smalley (Joyce), Joseph Soloman (Myrt), Leroy Soloman, Frances Woods and Tony Posey (adopted God- son and caretaker).
Maurice loved his family dearly including his sisters-in-law: Thelma Green (Ben) and Mildred Pickard; sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great grand- children, one great great grandchild, nieces, nephews and a host of love ones and friends. All were dear to him.
