Mattie Louis Paige Lyles, daughter of the late Newton Paige and Elizabeth Bynum Paige was born on March 31, 1926 in Chatham County. She departed this life on Saturday, June 30 at The Gardens at Beacon Place. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, husband of 65 years, George Harold Lyles, and six siblings. Cherishing her memory are: five daughters, JoAnn L. Hill of Aurora, IL, Christina L. Melvin (Robert, III), Jacqueline M. Lyles, Harrolde Hybernia L. Sills (Keith), and Cynthia Hicks (Larry) of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Gregory Hill, Robert Melvin, IV (Elssa), Brian Hicks, Holli Sills, and George Hicks; three great-grandchildren, Robert V, Deontrae, and LeNiya; and a host of other relatives and friends. A Homegoing Service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Swift Street A.M.E.Zion Church with the Rev. Charles R. Ingram, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends at the church at 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. Perry J. Brown Funeral Home is assisting the family.
