She was born in Fairfax, Virginia to the late John Henry Chase, Jr. and Evelyn Carter Chase Frye on November 10, 1928. Mary was preceded in death by her sister: Anna Mae Chase; brother: Calvin Chase; son: Ronald Tate and long time companion: Charles Starr. Mary attended public school in Fairfax, Virginia and the District of Columbia. She moved from Washington, D.C. to Greensboro, North Carolina in 1969, where she was employed by the Hilton Hotel. She received numerous awards and recognition. Mary retired from the Hotel in 1993. Mary leaves to cherish her memory: stepdaughter: Denise Jordan of Prince Georges County, Maryland; brothers: Kenney (Lillian) Chase of Las Vegas, Nevada; Anthony (Della) Chase, and Phillip Chase-El of Washington, D.C.; sisters: Sandra (Robert) Walker, Glenitta (Clarence) Proctor of Washington, D.C., Sandra Frye Mitchell of Ladson, South Carolina, and Portia Frye of Alexandria, Virginia; grandchildren: Michelle Tateâ??Martin (Greg), Edward Tate, Michael Tate, Clifford Tate, Robert Tate, and Martin Tate; great grandchildren: Jannah Tate, Latifah Tate, Destinee Tate, Kadir Tate, Martin Tate, Jr., Marquis Tate, and Marc Jordan, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her loving kindness.
