Church200 Regan Street Greensboro, North Carolina Reverend Alphonso McGlen, Pastor Officiating~Obituary~Mary Mayo Johnson Lewis affectionately known as â??Sisâ?? was born January 11, 1925 to Weldon and Daisy Johnson. She was the twin sister of the late James Johnson. Mary attended Grace Lutheran and James B. Dudley High Schools. Upon graduating she furthered her education at North Carolina Central University, receiving a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. After moving to Indiana, she earned her Masters degree in Science and Math from Indiana State University. She taught grades K-12 for twenty-seven (27) years. Mary was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Indiana. After retirement, she returned home to Greensboro to be with family, brother: Weldon Johnson and Leroy Johnson, both of whom preceded her in death. Mary joined Bethel A.M.E. Church where she served in various roles: Sunday School Teacher, Missionary Circle, Usher Board, Pianist for Sunday school and Stewardess. Her hobbies were bowling, playing her organ and working in her yard. Mary leaves to cherish her memories, nephew: Eddie Weldon Johnson; special cousins: LeVerne Kimber, Linda Aldridge, Essie Surgeon, Wanda Mayfield and her â??Angel Friendâ?? Evelyn Lee.
