Marilyn McKenzie Tavares, 47 of Greensboro, North Carolina, transitioned from earth to eternity on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Marilyn was affectionately known as "Marlo", born July 23, 1971 in Greensboro, to the late James Clarke and Ethel Lee Maynard. Marilyn attended Dudley High School. She was known as a hard worker, generous person with a loving spirit. She held several jobs before coming to Endura. But her love was for her three (3) babies/puppies. Her other loves were Jessie, Deontae, and Seamaria. She always had a desire to be a great cook, and was a lover of music and dance. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Phoebe and grandparents. Marilyn is survived by husband: Jessie Tavares; Deontae McKenzie; Seamaria Jackson; brothers: Reginald McKenzie and Robert Clarke; sisters: Donna (Delton) and Deborah; a special grandmother: Elsie King; aunts: Linda, Dale (Ronnie), Cynthia (Buddy) Mamie, and Rev. Linda Robinson (Ellie); a host of nieces, nephews; special friends: Trudy and Ava, other relatives and friends.
A service honoring her life will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Oak Grove AME Zion; 300 Lawrence St. Greensboro, NC. The visitation will begin at 11:30 am and the service will follow at 12 pm. The interment will take place following the service at Forest Lawn; 3901 Forest Lawn Dr. Greensboro, NC.
