Marguerite Wilkes Miller began her life's journey on April 26, 1931 in Chester County, South Carolina and on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, this beautiful angel gained her wings and took flight to her eternal rest. She was the eldest daughter of the late Verbie Lee and Gladys Worthy Wilkes. Marguerite was a member of the 1948 Graduating Class of James B. Dudley High School and the 1964 Graduating Class of North Carolina A&T State University with a degree in Nursing, Summa Cum Laude. She began and ended her career as a Registered Nurse at L. Richardson Hospital in Greensboro, NC, where she served as the first Admissions Nurse for the hospital. Marguerite was a faithful member of Saint Stephen United Church of Christ and was actively involved in the Gospel Choir, Circle #5 and had a passion for bringing joy to the sick and shut-in. She was also a member of the Barber Park Beautification Team and assisted in creating a flower garden at the park Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents Verbie Lee and Gladys Wilkes; husband, Ernest B. Miller Jr. and brothers, Ronald Wilkes and Howard McCluney. Her memory will be cherished by her sister, Verdie Boone; sister-in-law, Mary Hill; and devoted children: Yvonne (Willie) Jackson, Edelina (Roy) Oliphant and William (Mary) Covington. Five grandchildren: Willie (Tiffani) Jackson Jr., Tameka Oliphant, Brian Jackson, Treva (Thomas Jr.) Loyd and Tonya (Jonathan) Bellanger. One great-grandchild: Morgan "MoMo" Jackson, who always put a smile on her face. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Saint Stephen United Church of Christ, 1000 Gorrell St., Greensboro, NC 27406. Family visitation 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM. Services following at 1:00 PM. Funeral services entrusted to Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.
