Margaret Streater Miller, 87, of Sylva, NC passed away in Greensboro, NC Wednesday, May 14, 2014. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, was the daughter of the late Willis Streater and Ada Rogers Streater.

In addition to her parents  she was preceeded in death by her husband Ray Miller; two brothers, Harvey and James; brothers-in-law Purel,Conrad, T.D., Melvin, Gerald; and sister-in-law Irene Miller Christian.

She is survived by a brother, Herbert Dean, and wife Virgie of Greensboro, NC ; sisters-in-law Shirley and Garnell Streater of Sylva, Pauline Miller Jones of Andrews, Mary Lee Miller Scott of Warren, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Miller was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where she labored for over sixty years in a variety of capacities, to include; Pastorâ??s Aid Committee, Senior Missionary President, Womenâ??s Day Chair, Senior Choir Director, Pastorâ??s Anniversary Chair and recipient of the Robbie D. Bryson Service Award.

She also served faithfully in the Waynesville Missionary Baptist Association fo the up-building of Godâ??s Kingdom in the following roles: Executive Board Member, Program Committee, Sunday School Congress Trasure, Womenâ??s Missionary Association Past-President, Executive Committee for WBH-MC and recipient of the Frank T. Blount Leadership Award.

Mrs. Miller retired from Jackson County Public Schools afer 38Â years of service. Before coming to Sylva she taught one year in Andrews, NC.
