Marcus Van Hunter was born April 30th, 1960 to Barbara P. Hunter and Willie L. Hunter (deceased). He departed this life on the evening of Saturday, April 4th, 2015. Marcus grew up in Ettrick, Virginia and later moved to Greensboro, North Carolina where he graduated in 1978 from Northeast High School in McLeansville, North Carolina. After graduating high school, Marcus attended North Carolina A&T State University, then Norfolk State University, before returning to North Carolina, where he made Greensboro his home. Until the time of his passing, Marcus was employed at Schenker Logistics, Inc. in Browns Summit for six years, where he was lauded as an outstanding employee, admired by many. Marcus was notorious among his friends and family as a fan of horror films, video games, and the North Carolina Panthers. To call him an avid Panthers fan would be an understatement; his friends knew to never call him during a game. From the Panthers boxing gloves and beads dangling from the rear view mirror of his Camero, to the decals and helmet in the rear window and the Panthers themed welcome mats and clocks in his home, the enthusiasm Marcus had for his state team was unsurpassed – when it came to playing Madden on Play Station, no one but him was allowed to play the Panthers. Marcus is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Felicia "Sweetie" Orrell Hunter; mother, Barbara P. Hunter (Greensboro, NC); brother, Marvin L. Hunter (Alexandria, VA); sister, Sabrina H. Cook (Jeffrey) (Alexandria, VA); brother, Brett LeBaron Hunter (Greensboro, NC); son, Anthnyo B. Cheek; aunt, Jean Wright; brother-in-law, Franklin Orrell (Donna); brother-in-law, Bishop Norman Orrell; sister-in-law, Tina Orrell; grandchildren: A.J., Iyanna, Zion and Jayton; cousins: Al Burnie Wright (Robin), Gayle Cabrell, Theodore Cooper, Lisa Blount, Norma Stroy, Sylvia Stroy; nieces and nephews: Eric, Monique, Brandon, Jordan, Brock, Brandi, Saquja, Isiah, Ruben, Adrionna, Norman Jr., Adrian, Romni and LaDonna; and a host of other relatives and friends.
