Mamie Williedale Nelson Aiken was born to Eugenia Ford Nelson and Joseph Nelson on April 14, 1924.
Mamie was baptized at an early age at the Capemaum Baptist Church in Bamburg, S.C. She later joined Gethsemane Baptist Church in Greensboro, N.C where she was an active member for many years. She worked for Dr. William and Karen Hopper before retiring. Mamie was married to the late James Aiken Sr. and had four children.
Mamie loved spending time with her family and friends. Mamie will live on in the hearts and memories of her family and friends. She is survived by three living children Jacqueline Aiken (Greensboro, NC), James Aiken Jr. (High Point, NC.), Jeanette Aiken (Miami Fl.), one deceased son Samuel H. Nelson (Ruby) and one stepdaughter Ebony Aiken (Washington D.C.). Grandchildren: Samuel Nelson, Denise Nelson, Antoinette (Nelson) Alston (Tony), deceased Marlon (Tony) A. Aiken (Grace), Christopher Nelson, (Karen), Jermaine Nelson, Toshika (Aiken) Sauls, (Melvin), Tameika Aiken, Mary Rogers. She has a host of grands, great grands, great great grands, nieces and nephews.
