Obituary

Maggie Lee Oglesby was born to Lucy Gaither Brim and Ed Broadnax on January 19, 1925. She departed this life on Sunday, January 5, 2020. She attended school in Summerfield, North Carolina. She was employed at Bennett College until her retirement as a custodian. Mother Oglesby was a faithful member of Christian Faith of Deliverance Church. She truly loved her church family and her pastor and co-pastor. Mother Oglesby was preceded in death by husband, Hovie Oglesby and seven children: Flossie, Irene, Ernest, Mary Ella, Ethel, Virginia, and Mary Elizabeth. Maggie leaves to cherish her memories, son: George Tatum; stepsons: Robert (Patricia), Roosevelt (Odessa), and Melvin Oglesby; one stepdaughter: Edith Oglesby, all of Greensboro; two brothers and one sister, seven grandchildren: Brenda T. Smith, Cynthia (John) Hairston, Mary (Tommy) Walker, Lisa, Monica Tatum, Ella (Danny) Gardner, Derril (Loresvo) Grant; twelve step grandchildren: Robert Jr., Mitchelle, Joann, Niecie, Howard, Keith, Sharon, BB, Mitchelle Johnson, Tasheka, Lisa, and Tony; twenty great grandchildren; twenty-seven great-great grandchildren; and three great great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A service honoring her life will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the Cassie Coote-Brown Memorial Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home; 909 E. Market St. Greensboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 1pm with service following at 2pm. Internment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
