Louanna Reaves Douglas departed this life on December 1, 2019. She was born June 6, 1932 in Marlboro County, South Carolina to the late James Reaves and Ethel Lee McLaughlin. Louanna was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for 60 years, where she was involved with the senior choir, the vocal choir and served with her husband, Alton Douglas in the Deacon Ministry. She also was active with the Red Hatters Social Club and the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Association. She worked for Cone Mills Corporation and Lucent Technologies, Inc. She was a friendly, social person and her favorite pastime was cooking for her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Louanna is preceded in death by her husband Alton to whom she was married 67 years; her sisters, Mary and Annie Lee Leggett and her brother, Howard Reaves. She is survived by her son, James Alton Douglas of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Mae Douglas of Greensboro, NC; daughters-in-love, Joyce (Douglas) of Trenton, NJ; and Lois Henderson of Westbury, NY; grandson, Sterling Douglas of New York, NY; granddaughter-in-love, Danielle (Duane) Green and three great grandchildren in love, Tasanee, Makai and Saniya Green of Hamilton, NJ; and a host of nieces and nephews who surrounded her with love and attention, as matriarch of the Reaves family. A service honoring her life will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church; 1301 Alamance Church Road, Greensboro, North Carolina, 27406 on Thursday, December 5, 2019. The visitation will begin at 11:30 am and the service will follow at 12:00 pm. The internment will take place following the service at Lakeview Memorial Park; 3600 N Ohenry Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27405.
